Zachary Roy Giese was born on February 1, 1988, in Ortonville, MN, to Tim and Michelle (Nagel) Giese. He attended James Knoll Elementary School and Ortonville High School graduating with the Class of 2006. Zach went on to attend college at Dakota State University and later transferred to Moorhead State University.
Attaining a career in agriculture, Zach started working at Westway Feeds in Mapleton, ND as a Production Operator from 2010 to 2017. He was promoted to Production Manager with Westway Feeds when a new plant opened in Saginaw, MI. In 2019, Zach moved closer to his family and worked as the Hanley Falls Co-Op Manager in Cottonwood, MN, from 2020 to 2022. He then accepted the position of Feed Mill Manager in Eagle Grove, IA.
Zach enjoyed being outdoors and loved having days on the lake. He loved hunting, fishing, playing sports, and never turned down an opportunity to play a game of Bean Bags. Zach was a fan of all Minnesota sports. Being an avid sports fan was one thing, but Zach’s passion was baseball! He played baseball in high school, played for the Big Stone American Legion Badgers, and the Ortonville Rox.
Always a free spirit, Zach was usually willing to “go with the flow” and rarely needed a plan to have fun. He was the best brother to his younger sisters and the three of them shared an unbreakable bond. Zach was a family orientated guy and gave the best hugs. The apple of Zach’s eye was his niece, Kinsley. He loved being an uncle and unconditionally loved spoiling his favorite niece.
Left to cherish Zach’s memory are his parents: Tim and Michelle Giese of Ortonville, MN; sisters: Tiffany Giese of Sioux Falls, SD; and Emily Giese of Balaton, MN; niece, Kinsley Evans of Balaton, MN; grandfather, Doran Nagel of Ortonville, MN; along with several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Preceding him in death are his maternal grandmother, Ruth Nagel; and paternal grandfather, Ronald Giese.
