William “Bill” Oswood, age 63, of Big Stone City, SD, died July 2, 2018, at his home.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, July 6, 2018, at 2 pm at First English Lutheran Church in Ortonville, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services on Friday. Rev. David Tonn will officiate and inurnment will be in Mound Cemetery in Ortonville.
William Dean Oswood was born July 1, 1955, in Ortonville, MN, to Orville and Alice (Heffernan) Oswood. He was raised in the Ortonville area and graduated from Ortonville High School in 1973.
Bill worked at Honeywell for a short time then moved home and started a career as a welder at Case IH. He worked there until his retirement in 2016. On July 20, 1996, Bill was united in marriage with Gwendolyn (Larson) Oswood. They made their home in the Ortonville area and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Bill loved to ride horses and enjoyed going on trail rides. He also enjoyed spending time with his friends at the Big Stone Legion: especially for “Sunday Funday” and “Taco Thursday”. Whatever Bill was doing, he just loved to have fun.
Bill is survived by his sisters: Harriet Anderson of Danbury, IA; Jackie (Bernie) Pepka of Montevideo, MN; and Cindy (Bruce) Lowry of Holloway, MN; brother, Carl Oswood of Ortonville, MN; nieces & nephews: Patrick Anderson, Shannon Stewart, Jason Anderson, Joe Pepka, Chris Burdorf, Tim Lowry, Justin Lowry, and Kayla Neptune; and many other family members and friends.
Preceding him in death are his parents; and wife, Gwen.
