William Christle

June 25, 1925 — January 8, 2008

William E. Christle was born to William and Myrtle (Ellsworth) Christle in Mannanah, MN, June 25, 1925. He attended and graduated from Litchfield High School class of 1943.



Bill worked as a machinist apprentice for Great Northern Railroad of Willmar, MN, from September 1943 to September 1944.



He entered the armed services in September 1944, first in Fort Sheridan, then in the army engineers. He served in Japan and the Philippine Islands, as a heavy truck driver. William earned 3 bronze battle stars and was honorably discharged on September 24, 1946.



He returned to the Fairfield area and worked at Friedricks store. Later on he worked for WD Anderson Trucking Co. in Eden Valley.



William was united in marriage to Gertrude Davick, October 21, 1978. They resided in Clinton, MN where Bill worked for Finberg Trucking until retiring. Gert passed away November. 14, 1990. William continued to reside in Clinton until his death. He passed away at the Fargo Veteran?s hospital on January 8, 2008, reaching the age of 82.



William enjoyed being a grandpa, morning coffee with family and friends in his kitchen, reading, old time music, talking and the company of all those around him.



He is survived by one brother, Tom (Marlene) Christle of Eden Prairie, MN; one sister, Eilene Anderson of Fairfield, MN. William is also survived by step-sons, Tom (Dolly) Finberg of Clinton; grandsons, Jake (Kari) Finberg of Clinton, Justin Finberg of Ortonville, Russ (Leona) Finberg of Ramona, CA., Kent (Gail) Finberg of Farmington, MN, Lee (Judy) Finberg of New Freedom, WI. William enjoyed 6 great grandchildren, Dylan, Dustin, Travis, Brent, Korbin and Gabrielle. Special canine friend and companion, Dixie; as well as a host of beloved nieces and nephews and extended family.



William is preceded in death by his wife; parents; and two brothers, John and Bob; two step-sons, John and Neil.
