William Abbott

August 12, 1939 — December 27, 2007

William 'Bill' Abbott was born in St. Cloud, MN on August 12, 1939. He grew up in Kimball, MN; the oldest of five children, and graduating from Kimball High School in 1957. He attended NDSU College of Pharmacy, and graduated with a Bachelors degree in Pharmacy, in 1961.



Bill worked in Maddock, ND for a year, then moved to Grand Forks, ND, and worked at the Grand Fork's Clinic Pharmacy until he was drafted into the army in 1963. Bill received an Honorable Discharge from the army on May 14, 1965. While in the service, he was stationed at Fort Bragg, NC. He shot on the post rifle team where he earned many honors. Following his discharge, he returned to work at the Grand Fork's Clinic Pharmacy. It was while working at the clinic that he met his wife, Sandy.



Bill and Sandra (Johnson) were married on February 18, 1967. They were blessed with three children, Craig, Mark and Lisa. Bill worked for E.R. Squibb & Sons, as a pharmaceutical sales rep., and at Vold Drug in Grand Forks, before purchasing Arrow Drug in Clinton on August 1, 1976. Bill sold the drug store in 2003 and did some relief work at Carlson Drug in Ortonville and for Liebe Drug, Inc. for 1 1/2 years.



Bill was a member of Campbell-Williams Legion Post, and Clinton Commercial Club. He enjoyed spending time with his family and especially the grandchildren ~ each of them having a special place in his heart! He enjoyed spring and fall fishing on Big Stone Lake before he became ill.



Bill is preceded in death by his parents, William Sr. and Melba Abbott; his mother and father-in-law, Rhoda and Rudolph Johnson.



He is survived by his wife, Sandy; two sons, Craig (Heather) Abbott of Minneapois, MN, Mark of Ortonville, MN; daughter, Lisa (Shaun) Siegel of Wheaton, MN; two brothers, Bob (Beverly) Abbott of Mound, MN, Gary and his special friend, Irene, of Kimball, MN; two sisters, Mavis (Larry) Miller of Sauk Rapids, MN, Patty Abbott of St. Paul, MN; five grandchildren, Jacob and Caleb Abbott, Tylor, Grace and Jack Siegel, as well as many nieces and nephews.
