Vivian Anna Chitwood was born on September 05, 1916 to Perry and Florence (Bates) Chitwood in Mapleton, ND. Vivian attended grade school in Fargo, ND, and then graduated high school in Moorhead, MN, where she graduated with academic honors.
While working on a farm, Vivian met Barney Folkens. On June 12, 1936, Vivian was united in marriage to Barney Folkens in Sisseton, SD. Together they farmed by Clinton, MN and later they moved into Clinton. Vivian helped with farm work and raised a family. She worked as a nurse in Clinton Providence Center located in Clinton, MN. Vivian enjoyed traveling, reading and active with Clinton Methodist Church.
Vivian Folkens died on Sunday, October 17, 2004 at the Northridge Residence in Ortonville, MN.
Left to cherish her memories is her son Wesley (Roxy) Folkens of Maple Grove, MN; one daughter-in-law Karen Folkens of Morris, MN; five grandchildren, Jeffrey (Karen) Folkens, Cindy Folkens, Mark (Judy) Folkens, Michael (Theresa) Folkens, and Misty Kvidera; fifteen great grandchildren, Bryan, Nathan, Amber, Juston, Mathew, Chad, Jacob, Jessica, Luke, Samantha, Michael, Carrie Tatro, Kyle, Kallie, and Kaden Kvidera; two brothers, Bill Bates of Erhard, MN and Bob (Donna) Bates of Little Falls, MN; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.
Vivian was preceded in death by her husband, Barney Folkens; son Bernard; parents Perry and Florence Chitwood; and brother Perry Chitwood.
