Virginia Pearl (Johnston) Blomgren was born on August 28, 1945, in Hennepin County, MN, to parents, William and Lillian (Crofoot) Johnston. As a young girl, she attended school in Hennepin County and graduated from high school in 1963. Following her high school education, she attended college.
On May 18, 1968, Virginia was married to Lyndon Blomgren at the Appleton Congregational Church in Appleton, MN. To this union, two children were born, Laura and Lois. Virginia loved her children and cherished the opportunity to be a stay at home mom during their younger years. After the girls finished school and left the house, Virginia took her love of cooking and began working at the Matador in Ortonville where she used her expertise in satisfying many customers for close to fifteen years.
In her spare time, Virginia enjoyed playing cards and working on many different kinds of crafts such as sewing and crocheting. She made many special memories spending time with family and friends and especially her grandchildren. During the Holidays, she loved the satisfaction of putting on a fabulous spread of food for all her loved ones to enjoy. Virginia also took great pleasure in traveling, and looked forward to trips to Texas to see her daughter Laura. In her quiet time, she like to spend time reading or possibly even writing a poem. She was a treasure to all those who loved her and will be truly missed.
Virginia passed away Wednesday, September 20, 2006, at the Ortonville Hospital in Ortonville, MN, reaching the age of 61 years. She is preceded in death by her grandparents; father, William; husband, Lyndon; and brother-in-law, Bill McKenzie.
Virginia will be remembered by her two daughters, Laura Blomgren of Portland, TX, and Lois (Eric) Banken of Ortonville, MN; her mother, Lillian Johnston of Fergus Falls, MN; two sisters, Mary (Ken) Swanson of Apple Valley, MN; and Jean McKenzie of Fergus Falls, MN; five grandchildren, Alicia, Christine, Ellie, Chloe, Colin; as well as many other relatives and friends.
