Funeral services for Vincent Powlish will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2011 at 10:30 AM at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Graceville, MN. Father David Breu will be officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 29, from 5-7:00 PM at the Larson Funeral Home in Graceville, with a prayer service beginning at 7 PM. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the services at the church on Saturday. Burial will be at the Graceville Cemetery.
Vincent Frank Powlish was born in New Hradec, ND on January 23, 1927 to Frank and Agnes (Polensky) Powlish. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter and Paul's Catholic Church in New Hradec, ND. Vincent attended grade school in New Hradec and attended high school in Dickinson, ND. The family moved to Minnesota in the fall of 1946 and settled near Dumont, MN. In 1949 his family moved to Graceville. Vincent remained connected to and, for most of his adult life, lived on the Graceville farm.
On September 18, 1951, he was united in marriage to Maralyn Moeller in St. Peter's Catholic Church in Dumont, MN. To this union, they were blessed with three children: Veronica, Vince, and Vern.
After marriage, Vincent farmed and also worked in road construction for a few years. He farmed until his retirement, and continued to farm the homeland in North Dakota as well.
Vincent enjoyed playing cards and marbles. He especially enjoyed visits by his grandchildren.
Vincent passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at Essentia Health Center in Fargo, ND on Thursday, July 28, 2011. He lived to reach the age of 84 years.
Vincent is survived by his wife, Maralyn; and his children Veronica from Osakis, MN, Vince and his wife Jill from Graceville, MN, Vern and his wife Karla from Graceville, MN, and his grandchildren – Melissa, Corey (Brittney), Christa (Seth), Matt, Ashley, Bruce, and Amy. He is also survived by siblings Martha (Loren) Moeller of Elbow Lake, MN; Henry (Kathleen) Powlish of Browns Valley, MN; Dorothy Ledman of Alexandria, MN and many nieces and nephews.
Vincent was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Agnes; his father and mother-in-law Arthur and Loretta Moeller of Wheaton; and his brother-in-law Wayne Ledman.
