Funeral Services for Vernice Schultz will be held on October 26, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Elim Covenant Church in Stockholm, SD. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 25, 2010 from 4-7:00 PM and the Emanuel Patterson Funeral Home in Milbank and will continue one hour prior to the services at the church on Tuesday. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Stockholm, SD. Rev. Marlyn Kuper will officiate the service.
Vernice Audrey (Larson) Schultz was born on August 11, 1932 in rural LaBolt, SD, the daughter of Lloyd D. and Mildred G. (Steffensen) Larson. She attended Rural School Madison District 5 and graduated from Strandburg High School in 1950.
On September 28, 1953, she was united in marriage with Harold E. Schultz at the LaBolt Covenant Church. They enjoyed their 57 years together on their farm south of Stockholm.
Vernice was a loving and giving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was a dedicated member of the Elim Covenant Church in Stockholm where she held the office of Sunday school treasurer for many years. She was active in Covenant Women's Ministries, where she was a past secretary. As a member of Strandburg-Stockholm Legion Auxiliary Post 171, she held the office of historian. Vernice enjoyed ceramics, collecting bells, gardening, spending time with friends and family and having a "little" lunch.
Vernice Audrey (Larson) Schultz, 78, was called Home, Friday, October 22, 2010, after a brave fight with cancer at her rural Stockholm home.
Vernice is survived by her husband, Harold; three daughters: Susan and husband Onie Gonzales of Saratoga, WY; granddaughter Cassie and husband Mike Vaughn of Plainsfield, IL, and their children: Katelyn and Tyler, grandson Brian Fenner and wife Beth Brooks of Canon City, CO and their children: Dakota, Sondra, Dawson, Sierra and Brooklyn; Deb and husband Bob Christensen of Aberdeen, SD and their children Andrew and Allyssa; Pam and husband Todd Nelson of Fergus Falls, MN and their children, Lucas and Garrett; one son Larry of Stockholm, SD; one brother Cecil and his wife Joyce of LaBolt, SD; many step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Vernice is preceded in death by her parents: Lloyd and Mildred Larson.
