Todd Luverne Goodhart was born to James and Shirley (Anderson) Goodhart on December 4, 1965, in Ortonville, MN. Todd was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith at First English Lutheran Church in Ortonville, MN. Todd attended school in Big Stone City, SD, until the eighth grade when he transferred to Ortonville schools where he graduated in 1984. After high school, Todd attended Detroit Lakes Area Technical Institute for two years where he received a degree in business.
In 1986, Todd and his father, Jim, started Milbank Auto Sales in Milbank, South Dakota. After Jim’s death in 1990, Todd continued to own and operate the business. On December 16, 1995, Todd was united in marriage to Karen Jeral at Lysne Lutheran Church in rural Hawley, MN. From this union, they were blessed with two daughters: Katrina and Beth.
Todd had a love of the outdoors; he liked to spend time pheasant hunting and fishing. He would travel near and far, including Dallas, TX, and Milwaukee, IL, to attend car auctions. He made many friends on these trips, and during the auctions, if two people wanted to bid on the same car, they would “flip” for it.
Todd thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his girls, feeding ducks and spending time at the cabin. Todd was an avid Green Bay Packers Fan, and patiently waited years to purchase a Harley Davidson Motorcycle, finally purchasing one in 1995. He also loved animals, especially his pet cat, Chico, who was a part of the family for 17 years, and his current pet cat, Jasper; he loved to hear people’s reactions of the picture he had on his desk: “You didn’t get him from around here.”
Todd died on Wednesday, April 22, 2009, in Milbank, South Dakota, having lived to reach the age of 43 years.
Todd is survived by his wife Karen of Milbank; daughters: Katrina and Beth Goodhart of Milbank; brother Scott (Becky) Goodhart of Detroit Lakes, MN; mother-in-law Juanita Jeral of Hawley, MN; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Duane & Kim Jeral of rural Hawley, MN; three nephews; one step-niece; one step nephew; aunts, uncles, cousins; Special friends Monica, Mike and Stephanie Gruba and many friends.
Todd is preceded in death by his parents, James and Shirley Goodhart; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
