Sylvia Johnson

June 30, 1932 — February 7, 2007

Sylvia M. (Rinke) Johnson was born on July 30, 1932, in Wheaton, MN, to parents, Ervin Carl and Helen Hannah (Vogel) Rinke. As a young girl, she was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith. Sylvia attended school in Wheaton and finished her education in the Wheaton High School in Wheaton, MN.

On August 10, 1957, Sylvia married Donald T. Johnson in Alexandria, MN. In the years to follow, Sylvia and Don were blessed with three children, Dawn, Thomas, and Robert. In her working years, Sylvia helped as a bookkeeper for various employers. She worked for a number of years at Gooseneck Implement in North Dakota and also for various banks. In 1994, Sylvia and Don purchased the Big Stone Motel in Big Stone City, SD. Together the couple made many fond memories helping guests and making new friends from all over until they retired in 2004 and sold the business.

In her spare time, Sylvia enjoyed reading until her eye sight failed her. She loved any type of card game and when there was no one to play with, she would challenge the computer. Sylvia's quiet time was spent crocheting and putting together picture puzzles. Sylvia loved her family and took great pride in her grandsons and her great grandson. Her bubbly personality and talkative nature always put everyone at ease as she welcomed everyone as she would a friend. She will be truly missed.

Sylvia passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2007, at the Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD, having reached the age of 74 years. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ervin and Helen Rinke.
