Susan Terwilliger

Susan M. Terwilliger died March 12, 2018, at St. William's Care Center.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at St. William's Care Center Chapel in Milbank.  Father Gary DeRouchey will celebrate the Mass.  Burial will be at a later date at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Chicago Ridge, Illinois.

Susan Terwilliger was born on March 26, 1944, in Oak Park, Illinois.  Susan was admitted to St. Mary of Providence School on August 25, 1951, when she was 6 years old. This led to life-long friendships with other individuals having developmental disabilities and relationships with the Daughters of St. Mary of Providence!

On September 1, 1972, Susan was transferred to Mount Saint Joseph in Lake Zurich, Illinois. At the time, there were 164 women living on that campus and when it was decided to downsize in the late 1990s, Susan left Illinois and arrived in South Dakota on September 2, 1997. She lived in the Angela Hall Assisted Living Center until June 27, 2011 when she transferred into St. William’s Care Center.

Susan was always interested in everyone and actively involved in all that was going on at St. William’s. She greeted everyone with her smile and made each person feel like they were her best friend! The impact she had was certainly palpable as the word got out about her sudden decline and she had visitors, staff and other residents with her up to the time of her death on March 12, 2018.
