Funeral services for Mrs. Stella (Gene) Bucy, age 91, of Milbank, will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 9th, 2009, at the Emanuel Lutheran Church in Milbank. The Reverend Keith Bicknase will officiate. Stella died on Wednesday, February 4th, at the Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. The organist will be Roger Goosen and the Faith Choir will provide special music. Family members are asked to meet in the church fellowship hall by 1:30 p.m. Monday for a family prayer service. Visitation will be at the Emanuel-Patterson Funeral Home in Milbank on Sunday from noon-2:00 p.m. and in the church Monday one hour prior to services. Pallbearers will be Warren Bucy, Dan Routson, Dustin Schuler, Gary Berry, Russell Brown, Terry Prendergast, and Bob Berry. Burial will be in the Milbank City Cemetery.
Stella Marie Angerhofer was born on October 26, 1917, in Milbank, SD, the daughter of Paul and Sophie (Harder) Angerhofer. She attended country school through the eighth grade.
She was united in marriage to Randolph Carlton Hagen on August 28, 1949. Mr. Hagen died on September 12, 1958. Stella married Vernon Wilde on August 5, 1967, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Mr. Wilde died on February 27, 1984. On March 22, 1986, Stella married Eugene Bucy at the Emanuel Lutheran Church in Milbank.
Stella was a member of the Emanuel Lutheran Church in Milbank. She was a member of the Old Mill Twirlers, a square dancing group. She also loved playing cards, flower gardening, and volunteering at the Thrift Store in Milbank. Stella especially enjoyed her family and extended family.
Survivors include her husband Gene, of Milbank; her daughter Holly Schuler and husband Darwin, of Watertown, SD; her son Carl Hagen, of Chandler, AZ; her stepdaughter Susan Wilde, of Milbank, and her children; her granddaughter, Amber Schuler, Lincoln, NE; her grandson, Dustin Schuler, Watertown; her sister, Dorothy Prendergast, and husband Harry, of Milbank; sister-in-law, Delores Angerhofer, Milbank; her brother-in-law, Robert F. Brown, Big Stone City, SD; several cousins, nieces, and nephews; four stepchildren, Mary Jean Goodman and husband Loren, Sheridan, OR; Warren Bucy and wife Connie, Missoula, MT; Jane Bishop and husband Jim, Joplin, MO; and Lisa Bucy, Sheridan, Oregon; and several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.
Stella was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, her sister, Sophie Brown, and her brother, Art Angerhofer.
