Stanley "Stan" Angerhofer, 74, of Sioux Falls, SD, and formerly of Minneapolis, MN, passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at the VA Medical Center in Sioux Falls.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Mundwiler Funeral Home in Milbank, SD. Inurnment will take place at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN at a later date. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 14, 2024, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Mundwiler Funeral Home.

Stanley Lawrence Angerhofer was born on July 5, 1949, to Martin and Audrey (Stark) Angerhofer in Milbank, South Dakota. He grew up in the Ortonville and Milbank area and graduated from Milbank High School in 1967. After graduation he was drafted into the United States Army in 1968 and served until 1971. During his service he was stationed in both Germany and Vietnam. During Vietnam, he was a helicopter mechanic and gunner during the height of the war. While he was home on leave, he met the love of his life, Shirley Rogers. He wanted to stay in Minneapolis with her, but she convinced him to return to his service in Germany and finish his tour of duty.

Once he returned home, him and Shirley were united in marriage in Milbank on March 11th, 1972. They were blessed with two sons: Dwayne and Bradley. Together, they resided in Minneapolis, MN. He worked at Metal Matic as a crane operator for 40 years. He also drove school bus in Minneapolis for over 20 years. In April 2022, he moved to Sioux Falls and resided with his brother, Mike. 

He was a member of the American Legion in Minneapolis, MN, and VFW in Blaine, MN. He enjoyed drinking Keystone Light, fireworks, camping and campfires. He and Shirley had a campsite they loved to visit every summer with their granddaughter in Hinckley, MN. He was very family orientated and loved returning to Milbank to visit family. He had a strong work ethic and loved his family. He was very dedicated to his granddaughter Heaven. He was had such a big heart; he even welcomed Heavens half sister Mackenzie in, and loved her as his own. 

Left to cherish Stanley’s memory is his son, Bradley Angerhofer of Minneapolis, MN; eight siblings: Alice (Orville) Richardson of South Rossville, Georgia; Pauline Angerhofer of Minnesota; Eddie Angerhofer of Hurley, SD; Mike Lemster of Sioux Falls, SD; Nancy Asmussen of Manchester, NH; Linda (John) Dornon of Ohio; Lisa Schmidt of Aberdeen, SD; and Brenda (Morris) Riggin of Milbank, SD; granddaughter Heaven (Edgard) Gonzalez of Benson, MN; one great-granddaughter Oaklynn Gonzalez; brother-in-law, Loren Schmeichel; and several nieces and nephews. 

He is preceded in death by his parents: Martin and Audrey; wife Shirley Angerhofer; son Dwayne Angerhofer; five siblings: Geraldine Schmeichel, Alan Angerhofer, Victor Angerhofer, infant brother Clinton Angerhofer; and Brian Winterowd.
