Signey was confirmed at the Tabor Evangelical Lutheran Church in Strandburg, SD. She attended Madison #3 country school through the eighth grade and graduated from Milbank High School in 1950.
Signey worked as a secretary and bookkeeper at R.E. Hubbard Co. in Watertown, SD, from May 1950 to the spring of 1955. She was united in marriage to Ivan V. Fish on September 1, 1954, at Strandburg, SD. Following their marriage the couple resided in Watertown from the fall of 1954 until the spring of 1955. They then moved to a farm northwest of Stockholm and lived there from 1955-56. In 1956 they purchased a farm west of Stockholm and resided there until 1980. After her husband Ivan's death on February 14, 1968, Signey and her girls continued managing the farm with hired help. She worked as a secretary at Our Savior Lutheran Church, was the Stockholm Township clerk from 1968-80, and worked as a bookkeeper at St. Bernard's Hospital from 1974-86. She moved to Milbank in the fall of 1980. In August 2006 Signey entered the Golden Living Center in Milbank.

Signey enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, crocheting, playing pinochle, crossword puzzles, checking out building projects in Milbank and the surrounding area, her flowers, visiting and talking on the telephone, the Minnesota Twins, and the Minnesota Vikings.
