Funeral Services for Signe Hans will be held on Wednesday, January 5, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ortonville, MN. Visitation will be Tuesday, from 5 – 7 P.M at the Larson Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 7 P.M. Pastor Peter Gueldner will be officiating the service. Burial will be at Clinton City Cemetery.
Signe (Hedin) Hans was born on June 3, 1918 to the parents of Agard and Anna (Ross) Hedin, in Prior Township, Big Stone County, MN. She was baptized and confirmed at Elim Lutheran Church in Clinton, MN. She grew up on her family's farm of rural Clinton and attended and graduated from Clinton High School. Signe then attended Ortonville Normal Training and taught country school for one year.
Signe was united in marriage to John Hans, April 20, 1940. They made their home east of Clinton until 1955 when they moved to Clinton. From this union they were blessed with three children: John "Bud", Karol and Reid.
Signe, was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Women of Trinity and was a large part of the quilting group at the church in Ortonville. She was well known for her seamstress abilities in Clinton, and was very proud to work as an election clerk in the Clinton Memorial Building, served on the Clinton Depot Board, and was an avid sports fan. She and John loved to dance and brought their whole family to dances, teaching their children to dance. She and John also belonged to the card club.
Signe is survived by her sons, John "Bud" (Bonnie) Hans of Ortonville, MN, Reid (special friend Patsy) of Eden Prairie, MN; daughter, Karol (Jim) Scherer, of Ortonville, MN; 2 grandchildren, Peter (Peggy) Hans of Wynne AK, Angela Stotesbery of Tokyo, Japan; 1 great–grandchild, Jacy Hans; half brother, Sanford (Joyce) Steen of Moorhead, MN.
Signe is preceded in death by her parents, Agard and Anna; husband John; grandson, Paul Hans; brother, Harry; sisters, Helen and Isabell.
