Shirley Elizabeth (Fisher) Thorpe was born on November 3, 1923, in Omaha, NE, to parents, Raymond and Julia (Redinger) Fisher. As a young girl, she was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran Faith in Omaha, NE. Shirley also attended school in Omaha, NE.
Following her education, Shirley married Elmer Johnson and the couple made their home in Omaha, NE, where they were blessed with two sons, Jerry and Elmer. Shirley later married Donald Thorpe.
While working, Shirley took great pride in owning and operating a Trucking Company. In her spare time, Shirley loved spending time with family and friends and especially her many pets. She treasured quiet time spent working in her yard and tending to her flowers.
Shirley was a life long resident of Omaha, NE, and moved to Ortonville to be closer to her son Jerry after failing health prevented her from living at home.
Shirley passed away on Sunday, July 1, 2007, at the Ortonville Hospital in Ortonville, MN, reaching the age of 83 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Julia Fisher; one sister Lillian Benson; and one brother, Raymond "Buster" Fisher.
Shirley is survived by her two sons, Jerry (Bette) Johnson of Clinton, MN; and Elmer (Delores) Johnson of Pahromp, NV; a nephew, Harold Benson of Omaha, NE; six grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren; her beloved dog, Suzie; as well as many other family and friends.
