Sena Scholberg

Funeral Services for Sena Scholberg will be on Monday, July 9, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at First English Lutheran Church in Ortonville, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the church on Monday. Reverend Marlene Elmstrom will officiate and burial will be in the Mound Cemetery.

Sena Scholberg was born on October 17, 1911 to parents Harm and Johanna (Meyer) Hippen, Sr. in Lennox, SD. In 1918 the family moved to Wilmot, SD. She attended school through the 8th grade.

On November 4, 1938, Sena was united in marriage to Arthur W. Scholberg in Sioux Falls, SD. To this union two children were born. They made their home in Ortonville. Art died in 1996.

Sena was a caretaker, through and through. She cleaned houses and opened her home to others, renting rooms and an apartment. She also worked for Randleman Cleaners, and she and Art were the custodians at First English Lutheran Church for 30 years.

Sena was involved in her church and participated in Women's Circle and Day of Love. She and Art found much satisfaction in their Koinonea Bible Study and the friendships within that group. She was also a member of her neighborhood Birthday Club.

Sena's hobbies included caring for her house plants and especially her vegetable and flower gardens, and feeding and watching the birds. She enjoyed stitchery, baking and cooking.

Sena passed away on Wednesday, July 4, 2012 at the Northridge Residence, having reached the age of 100 years.

Cherishing her memory are her children: Aljean (Bill) Svendsgaard of St. Louis Park, MN and Orrin Scholberg of Duluth, MN.

Sena is preceded in death by her husband; three brothers; four half-brothers; and six sisters, including recently deceased sister, Minnie (Floyd) Hanson, of Wilmot.
