Ruby Ann Schultz was born on June 10, 1948 in Faribault, MN to Ethel Schultz. She was baptized on June 17, 1948 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Medford, MN. Ruby was confirmed on April 2, 1963 at Good Sheppard Church. She attended country school and then Appleton High School, graduating with the class of 1966.
On November 10, 1973, Ruby was united in marriage to Michael Dunnihoo at Zion Lutheran Church in Ortonville. Prior to their marriage, Ruby worked at Pamida. After their marriage, she worked at Frigo Cheese, as a milk tester. She later owned and operated her own antique shop in Big Stone City called Ruby's Antiques. She also worked for 13 years in the cafeteria of the Ortonville School. She really enjoyed working with the kids and the kids who were coming to school hungry, as they ate everything and were wanting more! Ruby had a special connection with children with special needs. Ruby worried about her children and their families and her new great-grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Ruby loved her computer; she would spend time on it watching wildlife and birds. She liked to play spider solitaire and she enjoyed animals, especially her cat, Mittens. Ruby also had a love of the outdoors, she liked to garden and to go for rides when her health allowed. Ruby was a simple woman who was made happy just by living!
Ruby spent half of her life battling Chron's Disease and then COPD. She always tried to put on her best face and would say 'things could be worse.' Ruby passed away on Sunday, September 30, 2012 at Ortonville Area Health Services in Ortonville. She had lived to reach 64 years.
Ruby is survived by her husband Michael of Ortonville; children: James (Kim) Dunnihoo of Concord, NC, Gregg (Rita) Dunnihoo of Milbank, SD, Michelle Dunnihoo Hamann of Ortonville, MN, and Lori Larsen; mother-in-law Lorraine Dunnihoo; brothers-in-law: Steven (Maureen) and Jeffery (Lindee); sisters-in-law: Susan (Terry) and Julie (Greg); grandchildren: Stephanie Dunnihoo, Shannon Griffin, Christian Browning; Amanda (Chris) Walters, Ryan (Miranda Stengel) Dunnihoo, Kevin Dunnihoo, Betsy Jorgensen and Dylan (Jenny Lee) Jorgensen; great-grandchildren: Kaden Walters, Macyn Stengel, Christian Walters and Brayden Jorgensen; and many aunts, cousins and extended family.
