Rose Marie Fridgen

Rose Marie Fridgen, age 82, of Ortonville, died June 24, 2018, at the Ortonville Hospital.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 28, 2018, at 11am at St. John's Catholic Church in Ortonville, MN.  Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5 to 7pm at the Mundwiler and Larson Funeral home and will continue 1 hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.

Rose Marie (Hagen) Fridgen was born on August 29, 1935 in Aberdeen, SD, to August and Veronica (Koll) Hagen.  She was raised and graduated from high school in Aberdeen, SD.  She also attended college earning her teaching certificate.  In 1955, Rose Marie moved from Aberdeen to Clark, SD, where she got her first teaching job.

On July 16, 1960, Rose Marie was united in marriage with John Fridgen in Aberdeen, SD.  The couple made their home in Ortonville, MN, where Rose Marie was a school teacher and a popular substitute teacher. She also taught school in Big Stone City, SD for a few years and was a faithful member of St. John’s Catholic Church.

Rose Marie loved her flower garden, going on “toodles” with John, and was a world class baker: known for her caramel and cinnamon rolls.  She enjoyed having coffee with her friends and family, playing cards, and shaking dice.  She was a caregiver and took care of everyone.  Rose Marie treasured the time she spent with her family, especially, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 57 years, John of Ortonville; children: Lynn (Jerry) Zeiger of Clyde, MO, Julie (Tony) Croatt of Rochester, MN, and Mary (Mike) Stuart of Sosua, Dominican Republic; grandchildren: Matthew (Chelsey) Wipf, Daniel Wipf, and Nathan Croatt; great-grandchildren: Delilha and Haylee Wipf.

Preceding her in death are her parents and two sisters.
