Rose Alice (Angerhofer) Wittnebel was born on October 12, 1936, in Milbank, SD, to Max and Elsie (Schumacher) Angerhofer. She was baptized on November 29, 1936, and confirmed on April 27, 1952, in the Lutheran Faith at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Milbank. Rose attended country school at Alban District Eight Country School and graduated from Milbank High School in 1954. She attained her teaching degree from Northern State University in Aberdeen, SD.

On July 23, 1960, Rose was united in marriage with Lyle Wittnebel at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Alban Township, Grant County, SD. Together, they had a son, Doug. They family made their home in rural Bellingham, MN, until 2003 when they moved to Ortonville. Rose worked as a grade school teacher in Bellingham and also helped Lyle with farming. In her younger years, Rose helped take care of her grandchildren and worked very hard on the family farm. She helped feed bottle calves and made meals, always delivering them with a smile wherever the men were farming that day.

Rose was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Walter Township where she was Sunday School Superintendent and served as secretary and treasurer of the Trinity Lutheran Town Walter Ladies Aide.

Rose enjoyed writing letters, listening to music, gardening in her strawberry patch and in her flowerbeds, baking, and visiting with friends. She loved to read, take bike rides, and going to look for wildflowers along the roadside with her grandchildren. One of Rose’s favorite activities was a challenging game of checkers with her grandchildren and in later years, with her great-grandchildren. She was recently blessed with a new great-granddaughter who she loved to rock, hold, and talk to.
