Rosy "Rose" Peterson was born on February 28, 1905 in Malta Township, Big Stone County, MN to parents John Peter and Mary (Kipp) Knippen. Rose attended school at District #12 in Malta Township in Big Stone County through the eighth grade.
On September 13, 1928 Rose was united in marriage to Stuart Clarence Peterson at the courthouse in Ortonville, MN. To this union one son, Johnny Peterson, was born.
Rose was primarily a homemaker and caregiver. She cared for her father-in-law and also both her parents and her son who suffered from cancer. Rose worked the corn run at the Big Stone Canning Factory during WWII.
Rose enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing cards, gardening, and crocheting. She crocheted over 1,200 doilies of various sizes. Rose was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ and the Women?s Fellowship.
Rose passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2005, at the Northridge Residence in Ortonville, MN.
Survivors include her sister-in-law, Della Knippen of Ortonville, MN; two nephews, Bud (Sandra) Knippen of Ortonville, MN and Stuart (Helen) Deal of Illinois; a number of great nieces and nephews as well as great-great nieces and nephews.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents John and Mary Knippen; her husband, Stuart Peterson; her son, Johnny Peterson; one brother and two sisters.
