Ronald Lester Fossen was born January 1, 1934 in Graceville, MN to parents Victor and Adeline (Pederson) Fossen. The Fossen family made their home on a farm south of Beardsley, MN. Ronald was baptized at Holden Lutheran Church. He attended school District #62. The Fossen family moved to Morris in 1949 after selling the family farm.
Ronald worked at Hoffman Engineering (formerly Arctic Metals) in Arden Hills for several years. While in Minneapolis, Ronald was an active bowler and received many trophies including some for bowling perfect games of 300.
After retirement, Ronald sold his Minneapolis home and moved back to Big Stone County eventually buying a home in Beardsley from Roger and Lila Fossen. He enjoyed gardening, growing vegetables and flowers. His gardening skills allowed Ronald to bring huge potatoes to a Fossen family reunion in St. Cloud, MN. After purchasing a boat Ronald spent many hours fishing and boating on area lakes.
Ronald passed away on December 14, 2013 at Northridge Residence in Ortonville, MN. having reached the age of 79.
Ronald is survived by: sister-Ruby Fossen Wade of St. Cloud, MN; nephews– Tom Wade, Lue Fossen and Joey Fossen; nieces-Jackie Fett, Cindy Spanyers-Flanagan, Pam Fossen, Sandi Koss and Cherise Wade; twenty-one grand-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by: his parents Vic and Adeline Fossen; sisters– Delores Fossen and Elaine Spanyers; brothers– Howard Fossen and Stanley Fossen; nephews– Bob Wade and Dennis Spanyers; and niece Patsy Fossen-Banks.
