Rodey Ewald, age 86, of Browns Valley, MN, passed away on July 19, 2020.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. at Valley View Cemetery in Browns Valley, MN. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Mundwiler and Larson Funeral Home in Browns Valley.
While maintaining social distancing guidelines, we are now able to accommodate gatherings of up to 250 people. The use of face masks by attendees is required, and we will continue taking the necessary steps to keep our facility clean. For those who prefer or require continued precautions, webcasting and/or livestreaming is available in most situations.
Rodey Edward Ewald was born on November 2, 1933, in Roberts County, SD, to Edward and Ardell (Judish) Ewald. He attended country school and graduated from Browns Valley High School. After high school, Rodey entered into the United States Armed Forces and served during the Korean Conflict.
In 1967, Rodey was united in marriage with Joyce Feltman. The couple made their home in the Browns Valley area. Rodey worked construction for many years, working on the powerplant and the dam west of Big Stone City. In later years, he went to work as a commercial fisherman. He would catch and sell fish all around the Midwest.
Rodey was a member of the American Legion and loved to help with the fish fry every year. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and raising his dogs and cats. Rodey liked to have a good time every now and again.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce of Browns Valley, MN; and niece, Candace Arndt of Clinton, MN.
Rodey was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Glen Ewald, Edward Ewald, and Ben Ewald; and sisters: Vivian Decker and Joice Erdman.
