Robert Charles Thyne “Bob” was born on December 9, 1933, at Hartford Beach, in the home he lived in all his life. Bob was the fourth child of John Joseph Thyne and Mary Cecelia (Graf) Thyne. He attended grade school at Geneseo #4 Country School and later attended what he referred to as a two year course at Wilmot University. On January 8, 1955, Bob married the love of his life, Donna Mae Reynen, and together they created a loving home where they raised their nine children. Bob was a faithful member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church and belonged to the Knights of Columbus and the National Farmers Organization.

Bob had a tremendous love for his farm, cattle, his horses, and the outdoors. He always loved feeding birds and watching them from the windows of his home. In his earlier days, he enjoyed mink trapping and hunting deer, geese, and ducks. Bob and Donna had a tradition of driving down to Hartford Beach State Park to watch the sunsets, a tradition Bob continued after Donna’s passing. He also remarked at the beauty of the lake and would tell his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, “You’re in God’s country”.

Throughout the years, Bob had many horses and took great pleasure in riding with his oldest son, Dan, as well as herding cattle and doing cattle drives with the neighbors. At nearly 86 years old, Bob was still active in working with the cattle and working the land with Dan. His incredible work ethic and zest for life has been a constant inspiration to his family.

"Dad, your keen sense of humor and perfectly timed quick wit will forever be cherished. Your guidance and wisdom is what carried us through the hard times in our lives, and we are forever thankful we had such an amazing role model to look to. You always said you wanted to die with your boots on and by God, you did it. Your children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren love you with all our hearts and you will never know how greatly you will be missed."

Bob is survived by his children: Marilyn (Greg) Bohman of Brillion, WI; Diana Thyne of Milbank, SD; Peggy (Bill) Reith of Modesto, CA; Patty (Todd) Cameron of Perham, MN; Linda (Calvin) Moser of Milbank, SD; Dan Thyne of Corona, SD; David (Lynelle) Thyne of Milbank, SD; Bobby Thyne of Wrightstown, WI; Joe (Mary) Thyne of Hillsboro, WI; 20 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Mary O’Brien of New Effington, SD; and Pat Karels of Richfield, MN; one brother-in-law, Rev.
