Robert Larson

September 16, 1923 — December 19, 2008

Robert Alfred Larson was born September 16, 1923, to John and Clarea Pomequist in St. Peter, MN. Bob was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in St. Peter. Bob attended grade school in St. Peter until the eighth grade, when he quit and began working to help the family. Bob took a job doing farm work, and worked seven days a week from sun up to sun down.



In 1941, after hearing about the attack on Pearl Harbor, Bob decided to volunteer for the army instead of waiting for the draft. Bob was assigned to the 33rd division, an Illinois National Guard Unit that was preparing for action in the Pacific Theater. Discharged in 1945, Robert went back to St. Peter where he was married and had three children: Ronald, Robert, Jr., and Dorien.



Robert spent most of his working life farming. He farmed in Nicolette County, MN. Some of Robert’s hobbies included farming, traveling, hunting and fishing. On June 28, 2003, Robert was united in marriage to Joy Semrau after a ten year courtship. They continued to live in Ortonville until his death.



Robert died on Friday, December 19, 2008 at Northridge Residence in Ortonville having lived to reach the age of 85 years.



Robert is survived by his wife Joy; two sons, Ronald and Robert; daughter Dorien; four grandchildren; brothers, Rodger (Mary) Larson and Curtis Larson; brother-in-law John Semrau; sister-in-law Sandy Semrau; best friend Don Johnson; and numerous nieces and nephews.



Robert is preceded in death by his parents; one brother and one sister.
