Robert "Bob" Beumer

Robert "Bob" Beumer, age 95, of Browns Valley, MN, passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at Browns Valley Health Center.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 3, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Wilmot, SD. Reverend Doctor DeVern Schwenn will officiate. Visitation and sharing time will be held on Thursday, November 2,2023 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 p.m. at the church in Wilmot. Lunch will be served immediately after the funeral service and burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Browns Valley, MN.

Robert “Bob” Clinton Beumer was born on June 15, 1928, to Floyd and Jennie (Frye) Beumer on the home farm in Becker Township of Roberts County, SD. He grew up on the farm with his parents and two older sisters, Florence and Hope.

Bob attended a country school through the eighth grade, walking to school each day. This was followed by four years at the West Central School of Agriculture in Morris, MN. He enjoyed his years there, making many life-long friends. He participated in sports and other activities: football, diving team, debate, and basketball.

Bob graduated in 1946 and returned to the family farm. On December 4, 1948, he was united in marriage with Doris Jean Deyo at the United Presbyterian Church in Browns Valley. They spent the next 59 years working on the farm side by side, raising crops and livestock. They were blessed with three sons: Scott, Randy, and Terry.

Bob’s faith in Jesus Christ, his love and appreciation for his family, and working the farm were the main focus of his life. He was a hard worker, but nevertheless found time for fun with the family, water-skiing and parasailing with his grandkids well into his seventies. His beloved wife Doris passed away on January 23, 2007.

Bob is survived by his sons: Scott (Jill) of San Antonio, TX; Randy (Judy) of Browns Valley, MN; Terry (Lisa) of Browns Valley, MN; grandchildren: Sarah, Ian, Jennifer, Mike; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Doris; brother Donovan; sisters: Florence and Hope; and great-granddaughter Savannah.

The Beumer family would like to especially thank the staff of the Browns Valley Care Center for the love and care shown for Bob when he resided with them.
