Richard Benjamin Kelzer was born on January 8, 1928 to John and Susan (Schmieg) Kelzer on a farm three miles west of Bellingham, MN. He was the seventh of twelve children.
On Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1970, Richard was united in marriage to Dorothy Bidney in Watertown, South Dakota. They spent their married life in Stacy, Minnesota. Richard lost his wife, Dorothy in July of 1989.
Richard served in the Navy and the Merchant Marines. Richard worked for Tonka Toys for about five years, until going to work for Honeywell for over 30 years.
Richard died on Thursday, April 23, 2009 at Ortonville Area Health Services in Ortonville, MN, having lived to reach the age of 81 years.
Richard is survived by his brothers: Norbert (Barbara) Kelzer of Ortonville, MN and Donald Kelzer of Bismark, ND; sisters: Lorraine (Donald) Pillatzke of Marietta, MN and RoseAnn Bossierre of San Francisco, CA; 36 nieces and nephews; and extended family and friends.
Richard is preceded in death by his wife; his parents; 4 brothers and 4 sisters.
