Richard Anderson

Richard Anderson, age 78 of Ortonville died October 4, 2014, at the Ortonville Hospital.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 8, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Clinton. Rev. Bev McNeill will officiate and burial will be in the Clinton City Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Wednesday, one hour prior to the service.

Casket bearers will be: Dave Alberts, Tim Anderson, Eric Kerstein, Kevin Kerstein, Terry Gillespie, and Frank Gillespie. Honorary bearers will be his grandchildren; Curtis Temple; and Everyone Who Called Him Friend.


Richard Harry Anderson was born June 5, 1936, in Stevens County, MN. He was the son of Harry and Emmy (Anderson) Anderson. Richard was baptized in Artichoke Lutheran Church on December 21, 1942. He was confirmed in Bethany Lutheran Church on March 24, 1957.

Richard attended District #48 Country School and graduated from the eighth grade. Following graduation he worked for various farmers at which time he met the love of his life, Connie Kaye Kerstein. The two were united in marriage on December 8, 1962. To this union a daughter, Lorie was born.

Richard was a grain farmer and milked cows with his father until 1965. He continued farming until his retirement in 1997. The couple moved to Ortonville in 2003.

Richard enjoyed hunting, fishing, and visiting with people. He especially liked playing cards and sharing jokes with his grandchildren. He loved spending time with his family and friends. His grandchildren were his pride and joy! His helping hands were always available for his townhouse neighbors or at the church.

Richard entered his eternal home on October 4, 2014, having reached the age of 78 years.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Connie of Ortonville, MN; his daughter, Lorie (Kenny) Chase of Clinton, MN; four grandchildren: Tiana Chase of Willmar, MN; Hilary Chase of Clinton, MN; Erika Chase of Medford, MN and Ethan Chase of Clinton, MN; three brothers: Delhart (Elvira) Anderson of Ortonville, MM; DeWillis (Barb) Anderson of Ortonville, MN; Norman (Mary) Anderson of Milbank, SD; four sisters: Joyce Gillespie of Alexandria, MN; Jane Gillespie of Clinton, MN; Susan Wohlers of Graceville, MN; Bonnie (Tom) Connelly of Sparta, KY; sister-in-law, Wilma Anderson of Clinton, MN; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Larry and Jerry.
