Raymond Christian Kahl was born on July 19, 1914, to parents, Christian and Minnie (Kahl) Kahl, in Posen Township, near Cottonwood Minnesota. Raymond was baptized and confirmed into the Christian faith at the Tabor United Methodist Church in Big Stone City, SD. As a young boy, Raymond received his schooling from the Big Stone Public Schools graduating from High School in 1934. While in school, Raymond was very active in sports especially basketball, where he lettered all four years. One of Raymond's fond memories was winning the Basketball Trophy in High school.



Following his graduation, Raymond began farming and farmed in both the Ortonville and Big Stone area. On December 1, 1973, Raymond was united in marriage to Elizabeth Skoog. In 1975, Raymond held his farm auction and the couple moved to Clinton where Raymond did carpentry work for residents of the area. While living in Clinton, Raymond served on the city council for four years. Being a life long member of the Tabor United Methodist Church in Big Stone City, SD, Raymond served his church on various church committees, especially the Board of Trustees. Raymond was very faithful and true in his life relationships, to his wife, Church and home. He treasured memories made singing in the Big Stone Community Choir. On August 16, 1999, Raymond moved to the Clinton Nursing Home.



Raymond passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2006, at Grace Home Nursing Home in Graceville, MN. He is preceded in death by his parents, Christian and Minnie; wife, Elizabeth, one brother; and three sisters.



Raymond is survived by his five nieces and nephews, Gloria Rebers, Naomi Reibe, Darrell Kahl, Marlys Hamann, and Evelyn Dailie; many great nieces and nephews, as well as many other extended family and friends.
