Ramona Granquist

Funeral services for Mrs. Ramona (Glenn) Granquist, age 77, of rural Stockholm, SD, will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 3, 2006, at the Tabor Lutheran Church in Strandburg, SD. The Reverend Elmer P. Brinkman will officiate. Ramona died on Thursday, June 29, 2006, at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Family members are asked to meet in the church basement by 10:00 a.m. Monday to attend services. The organist will be Kathy Granquist. Visitation will be at the Emanuel-Patterson Funeral Home in Milbank on Sunday from 5-7 p.m. and in the church Monday one hour before services. Honorary pallbearers will be Gwen Granquist; Melissa and Kipp Jurgens; Angela Granquist; Jill and Jason Orthaus; Jenna and Nathan Woolery; Ashley Granquist; and Maryna Litvinchik. Active pallbearers will be her grandsons: Jason, Jeremy, Brian, Derek, Nathan, and Kevin Granquist. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Ramona was born on June 28, 1929, at Watertown, SD, the daughter of Richard and Myrtle (Dahl) Carlson. She graduated from Strandburg High School and from General Beadle College in Madison, SD, with a degree in elementary education. Ramona was united in marriage to Glenn Granquist on December 25, 1949, at Tabor Lutheran Church in Strandburg. The couple moved to the Granquist homestead in 1950. Ramona taught in elementary schools at Goodwin, SD, and at LaBolt, SD, for sixteen years.
Ramona was a member of the Tabor Lutheran Church in Strandburg where she was active in church related activities and WELCA. She was a church organist for several years. Ramona enjoyed her grandchildren immensely. She also enjoyed baking and quilt making.
Survivors include her husband Glenn, rural Stockholm; four sons and their spouses, Gary and Kathy, rural Stockholm; Lee and Barbara, Cedar, MN; Bruce and Janet, rural Milbank; and Mark and Theresa, Milbank; eleven grandchildren; four great grandchildren: Cole and Kallie Jurgens, Jacey Orthaus, and Charlee Woolery; one brother, LuVerne Carlson and wife Barb, Willmar, MN; one sister-in-law, Delores Brandt and husband Orville, Nassau, MN; and several nieces and nephews.
Ramona was preceded in death by her parents, one infant daughter, Ginger Lee Granquist, and one brother, LeRoy Carlson. For obituary and online registry, please visit www.emanuelpattersonfuneralhome.com.
