Rachel Elizabeth LaPolice
October 28, 1911 - May 2, 2004
Rachel, the daughter of Magnus D. and Alida M. (Amundson) Johnson, was born on October 28, 1911 in Minneota, MN. She was baptized and confirmed at Hope Lutheran Church in Minneota. She graduated from Minneota Public School, and the University of Minnesota School of Nursing.
On August 1, 1939, Rachel was united in married to John LaPolice. Rachel was a nurse at Weiner Memorial Hospital in Marshall, MN before moving to Ortonville. She was an active member of First English Lutheran Church, her church circle, the Minnesota Order of Eastern Star, and the Sons of Norway. After retirement, Rachel volunteered to deliver Meals on Wheels, and tutored school children.
Rachel enjoyed crocheting, working puzzles, playing cards, and watching her favorite TV programs. She taught others how to make lefse and instigated embroidering dish towels for the church bazaar. Rachel also enjoyed traveling and attending Senior Citizen activities.
Rachel was preceded in death by her parents, M.D. (Mike) and Alida Johnson; her husband, John LaPolice; two sisters, Alice Ethel Furgeson and Ellen Ann McDowell; one brother, Daniel Johnson; and two nephews, Jerry Mootz and Brent Matthews.
Survivors include two sisters, Millie Mootz of Minneota, MN, and Rebecca (Ed) Bell of Sheridan, WY; one brother, Ambros (Sonja) Johnson of Aitkin, MN; thirteen nieces and nephews; and twenty-eight great nieces and nephews.
