Paul Zahn

Paul Zahn, 73, of Milbank, SD, passed away on Friday, April 11, 2025, at Avantara in Milbank. 

No formal services will be held.

Paul Alfred Zahn, the only child of Alfred and Elly (Kapelitz) Zahn, was born on December 25, 1951, in Ortonville, MN. He grew up in Ortonville, attending school there and graduating with the class of 1969. Paul pursued his passion for broadcasting at the Brown Institute of Broadcasting in Minneapolis, MN, where he graduated in 1970. After working in the Minneapolis area for a time, he returned to the Milbank area to be closer to his parents.

Paul dedicated many years to his career as a radio broadcaster, a field that combined his love for connecting with people and sharing stories. In addition to his broadcasting work, he found joy in mentoring others as a basketball coach in Milbank. Paul was also a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Ortonville.

A true sports enthusiast, Paul had a deep love for all sports. He cherished time spent fishing, hunting, and being immersed in nature—pastimes that brought him great joy. Above all, he found fulfillment in being behind the microphone, sharing his voice and passion through the radio.

Paul is preceded in death by his beloved parents: Alfred and Elly Zahn, as well as his paternal and maternal grandparents.
