Otto Karsky

October 26, 1930 — October 24, 2004

Otto Karsky was born on October 26, 1930 in Dunn County, ND to Frank and Emma (Marsh) Karsky. He attended school in New Hradec District #33 and attended Saint Peter and Paul Catholic school, where he graduated from 8th grade. After graduation, he worked on the family farm until December of 1950, when he enlisted in the Navy.



Otto received his basic training at the Navy Training Center in Chicago, IL for eight weeks. After training, Otto went to the Mediterranean Sea, where he went aboard the ship "CA74 USS Columbus." He spent over three years aboard ship as a pipe fitter. After being discharged in 1954, Otto farmed with his dad.



On June 06, 1956, Otto was united in marriage to Margaret Havelka in New Hradec, ND. To this union eight children were born; Audrey, Alan, Adrian, Armon, Annette, Arleen, Arthur, and Arnold. Otto farmed on his own farm, and continued to help his dad farm. In 1961, Otto and his family moved to Clinton, MN where he continued to farm with his family until his retirement in 2000.



Otto enjoyed gardening flowers and vegetables, woodworking, jig saw puzzles, word find puzzles, and spending time with family. One of Otto's favorite times of summer at the Karsky campouts was playing "King of the Grill". Otto was a member of the Holy Rosary Parish, Father George Campbell Knights of Columbus, Catholic Workmen, and American Legion and Veterans of Foreign War. Otto also served on many boards, including the NFO, Coop, school board, local and regional church council.



On October 24, 2004, Otto Karsky passed away at the Holy Trinity Hospital in Graceville, MN, reaching the age of 73 years, 11 months, and 29 days. Blessed be his memory.



Left to cherish Otto's memory is his wife, Margaret; eight children, Audrey (Steve) Prokosch of Redwood Falls, MN, Alan (Deb) Karsky of Clinton, MN, Adrian (Jodi) Karsky of Princeton, MN, Armon (Laurie) Karsky of Wheaton, MN, Annette (Gary) Kleindl of Chokio, MN, Arleen (Brian) Athey of Ortonville, MN, Arthur (Nina) Karsky of Hinton, IA, and Arnold (Becky) Karsky of Nelson, MN; thirty grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. Also left to cherish his memories are his brothers and sisters, Elsie Sadowsky, Ludwig Karsky, Tillie Volesky, Frank Karsky, Albert Karsky, and Eddie Karsky; and many nieces and nephews.



Preceded Otto in death were his parents; and one brother Laudie Karsky.
