Funeral Services for Norma J. Connelly, age 79, of Ortonville, MN will be on Thursday, April 6, 2006 at 1:30 pm at Abiding Faith Lutheran Church in Ortonville, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Clinton City Cemetery in Clinton, MN.
Norma Jean Connelly was born on September 27, 1926 to Colonel and Louise (Huebner) Adolphson in Clinton, MN. She attended Clinton High School, graduating in 1944. She was very active in high school; singing in the choir, cheerleading, and she was elected Homecoming Queen. Upon graduating, she moved to Minneapolis where she worked as a model, in the Selective Service office, and finally for Arthur Anderson as an executive secretary for many years. Norma was briefly married to Richard Connelly and the two remained friends.
Norma may have lived for many years in the Twin Cities, but she was still a small town girl at heart. She enjoyed pheasant hunting with her brothers, and was quite a good shot. Time spent with her family talking and laughing was always the most precious to her. She dearly loved children, especially her nieces and nephews whom she treated as the children she never had. While working, Norma traveled all over the country and the world. She learned to be very self sufficient, knowing a little bit of carpentry and plumbing. Norma was affectionately known to her siblings as "Sis" or as "Old Maid".
Norma passed away Sunday, April 2, 2006 at the Northridge Residence Care Facility in Ortonville, MN. She is preceded in death by her parents, Colonel and Louise Adolphson; her brother-in-law, Glenn Huizenga; and two nephews, Steve Huizenga and Norman Adolphson.
Norma is survived by four brothers, Kenneth (Donna) Adolphson of Ortonville, MN, Stanley (Marlys) Adolphson of Ortonville, MN, Everett (Eileen) Adolphson of Ortonville, MN, and Fred (Berneta) Adolphson of Rockford, Illinois; one sister, Luane Huizenga of Ortonville, MN as well as many nieces and nephews.
