Nona Sullivan

Nona K. Sullivan was born May 17, 1921, to George and Violet (Sullivan) Cota. She was the third child of eight; George Jr., Marjorie (O'Donnell), Ion, John, Thomas, Gregory and Grace (Hofer).
Nona was baptized on July 17, 1921, at Holy Rosary Church. She grew up on a farm near Graceville. She attended country school and completed 9th grade. On July 14, 1943, she married Richard F. Sullivan. To this union, 2 sons, Richard Jr. and Michael, and 3 daughters, Kathleen (Moeller), Rosemary (Widman), and Colleen (Andrews) were born.
Nona worked many years in the hospital laundry and as a nurse's aide in the nursing home. She also was employed for many years as a kitchen aide at the Graceville High School. Nona loved to watch and "know" about people. She could remember everyone's birthday, anniversary, and who everyone was related to. She especially felt it was her duty to tell all of her children and grandchildren to drive carefully and "watch out for deer." She loved to have her children and grandchildren visit her and keep her informed about all of the 'news.' Nona was full of spit and vinegar; and as we all know she loved her vinegar, too! On November 12, 2007, Nona K. Sullivan passed away at Grace Home, where she had been a resident for 6 1/2 years. She reached the age of 86 years, 5 months, and 26 days.
Nona was preceded in death by her parents, George and Violet Cota; her husband, Richard Sr.; son, Richard Jr.; and daughter, Colleen (Andrews).
Survivors include; son, Michael; daughters, Kathleen (Bill) Moeller, and Rosemary (Gerald) Widman; 1 brother, Gregory Cota; 2 sisters, Marjorie (O'Donnell) and Grace (Don) Hofer; daughter-in-law, Diane Sullivan; son-in-law, John Andrews; 12 grandchildren, Shelly (Jeff) Pridey, Brian (Wendy) Sullivan, Kerri Lawrence, Mark (Melissa) Moeller, Karla (Dave) Flaming, Steve (Lisa) Moeller, Lynnsey (Dustin) Heaton, Amy (Collin) Erickson, Jeremy Andrews, Shanna (Ken) Quist, Dustin Andrews, and Katie Andrews; 18 great-grandchildren, Nicole, Jessica, Joshua and Anna Pridey, Chris, Carter, and Savanna Sullivan, Brandon and Kendra Lawrence, Mary, Matthew and Micah Moeller, Madysen and Seth Flaming, Kyle and Makayla Heaton, Alaina and Logan Erickson.
