Nancy Phyllis Meyers was born on September 1, 1940 to parents Herbert and Myrtle (Montag) Meyers in Milbank, South Dakota. Nancy was raised and attended school in Milbank, SD. She was baptized and confirmed at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Milbank.
In 1958, Nancy was united in marriage to Wayne Peterson, to which four children were born: Douglas, Valerie, Curtis and Brent, followed by ten grandchildren.
In 1989, Nancy was united in marriage to Harold Hansen. From this marriage she had five step-children: Harold, Carla, Pam, Kenny and Lee; as well as ten step-grandchildren.
Nancy worked in the Clinton Nursing Home for five years and the Browns Valley Nursing Home for 18 years. Nancy also worked at Woopee’s Bar, Foster Lodge and the Beardsley Liquor Store. She attended two years of nursing school and worked as an LPN at Coteau de Prairies Hospital in Sisseton, SD for 18 years.
Nancy enjoyed many things; a few of her hobbies included: gardening: vegetables and flowers, crocheting and quilting, numerous crafts with her daughter Val, playing cards, shopping, especially at thrift stores, traveling, fishing and cooking.
Nancy died on Thursday, July 29, 2010 at the Browns Valley Health Center in Browns Valley, MN. She had lived to reach the age of 69 years.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Harold; children: Douglas (Sis) Peterson of Beardsley, MN, Valerie (Steve) Henrichs of Ortonville, MN, Curtis (Lisa) Peterson of Beardsley, MN, and Brent (Kathy) Peterson of Ortonville, MN; Ten Grandchildren; four step-children: Harold (Nam) Hansen, Carla (Phillip) Schafer, Kenneth Hansen and Lee (Christa) Hansen; Ten Step-Grandchildren; Two great-grandchildren; sisters: Judy Malone of Monroe, NE and Sandra (Tony) Hill of Fort Collins, CO and many nieces and nephews.
Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, one step-grandson and one step-daughter.
