Myron Kenneth Schnaser was born on July 26, 1925, in Yellowbank, Township in LacQui Parle County , MN, to parents, Oscar and Elsie (Klages) Schnaser. He was baptized into the Lutheran faith on November 1, 1925. As a young boy, he attended country school in Alban Township, in Grant County, MN. Upon completion of his schooling he later attended West Central School of Agriculture in Morris, MN.
Following his schooling, he entered in the U.S. Army were he served his country during World War II. Upon his honorable discharge from service, Myron returned to the Ortonville area where he began farming. After leaving farming, Myron held different jobs throughout the area working as manager for the Lac Qui Parle Lands Bowling Alley in Dawson, MN. During this time, they began using the automatic pin setters and Myron attended a school in Chicago to learn to run the new system. Myron was also a certified Frigidaire and General Electric repair man and attended many seminars and repair schools to keep up on the recent changes the manufactures made. Myron used his knowledge of appliances while working as a repair man for Montgomery Wards Department Stores. Myron also worked for Jurgens Hardware and also Sears and Gamble Stores.
On May 21, 1964, Myron was united in marriage to Lorraine Keith in Sisseton, SD, at the Lutheran Church. The couple made their home in Big Stone City, SD, where they raised their family.
In his spare time, Myron managed to acquire his pilots license and enjoyed flying. He loved spending time with his family and friends and cherished the memories made with them. He was a member of the Gertje -Van Lith American Legion Post # 229 in Big Stone City, SD, and also a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Ortonville, MN, where he served on the Stewardship Committee and also sang in the Choir. Myron loved the travel and enjoyed special trips with Lorraine to see their children and also the trip they took to Hawaii in 1972. He will be truly missed.
Myron passed away Saturday, January 6, 2007, at the Golden Living Center in Milbank, SD, reaching the age of 81 years. He is preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Elsie; three sisters, Goldie Eastler, Jante Bergstrom, and Judy Hunt; and one brother, Gordon Schnaser.
Myron is survived by his wife Lorraine Schnaser of Big Stone City, SD; children, Brenda (Kirk ) Neuman of Fairbault, MN; Dennis Schnaser of Big Stone City, SD; Dr. Allan (Diane) Schnaser of Carsen City, NV; Susan (David) Kestmier of St. Cloud, MN; Kathy Martin of St. Joe, MN; Stanley (Marilyn) Keith of Sartell, MN; Sharon (Steve) Remund of Sioux Falls, SD; and Michael Keith and special friend Julie Erickson of Milbank, SD; two sisters, Mildred Olson of Watertown, SD; and Gloria (Richard) Sandberg of Ortonville, MN; 14 Grandchildren; and 6 Great Grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
