Muriel Von Eschen passed away on September 6, 2024, at her home in Chaska, MN, following a brief illness.

Burial was at Mound Cemetery in Ortonville following a private family service.

Muriel Mae Giese was born on June 27, 1931, to Arthur C. and Esther (Mielitz) Giese. Growing up on a farm near Appleton, MN, Muriel attended country schools through eighth grade. She graduated from Appleton High School in 1949, after which she was employed at Farmers & Merchants State Bank in Appleton.

On June 17, 1950, Muriel was united in marriage with Delford Von Eschen of Ortonville, MN. Del and Muriel were blessed with 59 wonderful years together and two daughters, Connie and Carol, 10 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren.

Muriel and Del farmed northeast of Ortonville for 32 years, retiring in 1983 to Ortonville. From there, they and their RV explored much of the United States. When not travelling, Muriel enjoyed being a homemaker, a mom, and a farmer. She was an accomplished gardener, with a 50-year passion for Hybrid Irises. Other favorite pursuits included sewing, genealogy, and restoration of old dolls.

Her faith was the foundation of her life. As a member of Tabor United Methodist Church in Big Stone City, SD, she taught Sunday School, served on the Pastor Parish Committee, and used her talents creating church banners and in 50 years of flower shows.

Muriel is survived by her daughters, Connie Kraus of Chaska, MN; and Carol (Mark) Mogan of Cadillac, MI; nine grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; son-in-law, David Kraus; granddaughter, Suzanne Kraus; great-grandson, Noah Birr; and brother and sister-in-law, Dale and Anita (Sallen) Giese.
