Graveside services for Mrs. Muriel Bunting, age 89, of Owasso, Oklahoma, and formerly of rural Revillo, SD, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 21, 2008, at the Revillo City Cemetery. The Reverend Kim Kanitz of St. John's Lutheran Church in Revillo will officiate. Muriel died on October 13, 2007, at the Evergreen Retirement Home in Owasso.
Muriel was born on May 15, 1918, in Grant County, South Dakota, the daughter of Arthur and Ruth (Schmidt) Oehler. She lived in Grant County with her family and attended rural schools. Muriel graduated from Ortonville High School in Ortonville, MN and attended teachers training at the University of Minnesota. She taught in rural schools in Minnesota from 1936-1941. Muriel was united in marriage to Richard H. Bunting on June 7, 1941, in Milbank. The couple farmed near Revillo, SD, until 1963. She was a bookkeeper until her retirement in 1980. Richard died on September 8, 1990. Muriel continued to live in Milbank until moving to Greeley, CO, where she worked for K-Mart as a receiving clerk. In 1996 she moved to Owasso, OK, where she lived with her daughter Marjorie until entering the Evergreen Retirement Home.
She was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Owasso. Muriel enjoyed reading and needlework as long as her health allowed.
Survivors include one daughter, Marjorie Bunting, of Owasso, OK; two sons, Stephen Bunting and wife Penny, of Moscow, ID, and Richard Bunting, of Norwalk, CA; four grandchildren; one step-grandson; three great grandchildren; one sister, Jeannette Ceser, Sun City, AZ; and several nieces and nephews.
Her parents, husband Richard, and three brothers, Donald, Raymond, and Gerald Oehler, preceded her in death.
