Milferd Salverson

Milferd Ervin Salverson, son of Lloyd and Mabel (Holman), was born on August 13, 1927, in Ortonville, MN.
He was baptized on August 11, 1929, at the Odessa Evangelical Church. Later by rite of confirmation he received his Certificate of Membership in the Eidskog Lutheran Church, March 3, 1967.
Milferd received most of his education at District #42 Country School in rural Ortonville.
When Milferd was seventeen, he met Darlene Wellendorf. On March 19, 1949, they were united in marriage in Ortonville, MN. Milferd and Darlene spent 55 years of marriage on their farm in Otrey Township where they raised their three daughters: Charlene, Marlene and Jolene.
After many years of being the only man in the family, Milferd happily welcomed two sons-in-law and later four grandsons. Milferd enjoyed spending time with his family, and he and his grandsons looked forward to their special times together on the farm.
Milferd was in his 55th year of grain farming, 40 of which he also was a dairy and hog farmer. In his years of semi-retirement, he enjoyed many travels including trips to Norway, Alaska and in early July to Albany, Oregon, to visit his sisters. He also enjoyed his coffee visits with friends and ice fishing with his close friend and neighbor.
Milferd served as a trustee on the Eidskog Church Council and also on the Odessa Elevator Board.
On Wednesday, August 4, 2004, Milferd Salverson passed away reaching the age of 76 years, 11 months, and 22 days.
Milferd is survived by his wife Darlene of rural Ortonville; his three daughters, Charlene Salverson of Eden Prairie, Marlene (Mohamed) Shouman of Lakeville, and Jolene (Hussein) Shouman of Oakdale; four grandsons, Kasim and Belal Shouman, Ali and Hassan Shouman; three sisters, Betty Jacobson and Shirley Lovell of Albany, Oregon, and Ihla Beyer of Mounds View, MN; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Milferd was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd Salverson and Mabel Holman Salverson Falk; and brothers Virgil Salverson and Earl Falk.
