Funeral services for Mayme Jurgens, age 101, of Ortonville, MN, will be held Saturday, March 23, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church in Ortonville. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Father Bob Goblirsch will officiate and Pat Kunz will be the organist. Burial will be in Mound Cemetery in Ortonville.
Mayme Ann Jurgens was born on August 31, 1911 to Frank and Anna (DeGreef) Kockx in Milbank, South Dakota. Her early years were spent on a farm near Hartford Beach and later the family moved to Big Stone City.
Mayme married Albert Jurgens on June 23, 1933 and they made their home in Ortonville. Mayme was a devoted wife and mother to their three children. Much later in her life she worked for three years for her son, Slim, in his local Sears store.
Mayme was a member of St. John's Catholic Church. She was also active in her neighborhood Birthday Club for many, many years.
Mayme found pleasure in crocheting, baking, and cooking – and was especially fond of cooking for her children and grandchildren. She was a homemaker through and through. Mayme was known for the love and warmth she gave to all who came in contact with her – always viewing others in a positive light.
Mayme passed away on Friday, March 8, 2013 at Northridge Residence in Ortonville, having reached the age of 101.
Left with her loving memory are her children: Beverly (Eugene) Cloos of Big Stone City, SD; Francis "Slim" (Marylin) Jurgens of Ortonville, MN: and Susan (Steve) Roggenbuck of Blaine, MN; nine grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren.
Mayme was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Albert, in 1988; her two sisters: Elnora Hirmer and Virginia Tuscherer; and her brother, Phil Kockx.
