Mary Frances Turner was born on May 12, 1941 in Forest Park, Illinois to Fred and Mae (Wallenberg) Turner. Mary grew up in Chicago, IL, and Walker, MN, she graduated high school and then furthered her education with one year of Business School. Mary married Robert Worrall in Walker, MN on August 10, 1963, to this union, three children were born, Scott, Kathy and Sheila. Robert and Mary made their way to Ortonville, MN. In the late 1960’s, Mary was a teller at Northwestern State Bank of Ortonville, she was also employed as a secretary at Culligan’s, a dietary aide at Northridge Residence for 12 years, and most recently as an aide at Monarch Heights.
Mary was a member of the Jaycee Women, where Mary and Robert were named Jaycee couple of the year in 1976. She was a part of many organizations, including OAHS where she had been the Treasurer, Mound Cemetery Board, UMW, Church Choir, Red Hat Society, and monthly bridge club. Mary was the Church financial secretary for many years at First United Methodist Church, where she also served at the President of UMW and taught Sunday School. She volunteered with Meals on Wheels, was “Egg Coffee” maker at church, and every year, she enjoyed “Medallion Hunting”.
Mary enjoyed all things athletic, watching them on T.V. and especially supporting the athletes of Ortonville High. She enjoyed singing in the choir, going to coffee and most importantly, loving her grandchildren.
Mary passed away on Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park having lived to reach the age of 67 years.
Mary is survived by her son, Scott (Kim) Worrall of Faribault, MN; two daughters, Kathy (Darren) Wacha of Bozeman, MT, Sheila (Mike) Stern of Maple Grove, MN; 7 grandchildren, Nathan and A.J. Worrall, Dalton, Nikayla and Blake Wacha and Anna and Claire Stern. She is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Mae; husband, Robert; brothers, Fred and Ed Turner; step-sister, Mary Anderson; and many dear friends.
