Mary “Betty” Miller, the daughter of John and Mary (Nash) Keeler, was born on May 26, 1921 in St. Paul, MN. Betty and her family moved to the Barry area when she was very young. Betty lived most her life in Big Stone County where she attended St. Mary’s School for 11 years.
Betty was united in marriage to James Arthur Miller on October 13, 1940. They made their home on a farm near Barry, MN. They raised chickens, ducks, and geese. She had a big garden growing vegetables for canning. Betty was a good cook and loved to bake. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Graceville.
Betty worked at Holy Trinity Hospital in housekeeping. for several years. When they retired to Graceville, MN, life became more relaxing for them. In 2001, James was killed in a car accident in Alexandria, MN. Betty remained in Graceville until her death.
Betty died on Friday, August 21, 2009 at the MeritCare Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota; she had lived to reach the age of 88 years.
She will be missed by all her family and friends.
She is survived by her children, Sharon (Ronald) Carlson of Donnelly, MN, James (Karen) Miller Jr. of St. Joseph, MN, Dennis (Kathy) Miller of Germantown, WI; 9 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, James; and one brother, John Keeler.
