Mary was born to parents Frank and Pearl Benner on October 12, 1906 in Stillman Valley, Illinois. She attended school, graduating from high school and then continuing on to Ag school for an additional two years. Mary was united in marriage to Thomas M. Green on July 3, 1937 in Graceville, MN. Two sons were born to them, both passing away at birth. Mary and Thomas celebrated thirty-eight wonderful years together before Thomas's passing on June 12, 1976.
Mary and Thomas were godparents to many children, both within their family and outside of it. For many years they enjoyed traveling to Texas during the winter. She was a tireless volunteer at the Grace Home and Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Mary also assisted Thomas with many Veterans activities over the years. In her free time, she enjoyed golfing and bowling, but her most favorite hobby was working in her garden with her flowers.
Mary passed away Thursday, July 27, 2006 at the Grace Home in Graceville, MN. She is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas, two infant sons; Michael Francis and Thomas William, and brother Lloyd Benner. She is survived by many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
