Marvin Bullock, age 95, of Browns valley, MN died August 13, 2014, at the Browns Valley Health Center.
Funeral services will be Saturday, August 16, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Browns Valley, MN with Pastor Paul Warnier officiating. Burial will be at Valley View Cemetery. Visitation is Friday evening at the Mundwiler and Larson Funeral Home in Browns Valley, MN from 5 – 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
Marvin Richard Bullock was born on November 6, 1918, in Dumont, Minnesota to Herbert and Alma (Thompson) Bullock. He was confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Dumont, MN. He completed the 8th grade and then began farming full time with his father. In 1938, he moved to Browns Valley and bought a farm. Marvin was united in marriage with Mary Lancaster on August 30, 1939. To this union four children were born. Marvin and Mary lived on the farm until 1980 and then moved into Browns Valley. He continued to help his son Leonard farm until 2008. Mary died in September of 2000.
Marvin was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church where he served as an Elder and Trustee. He was also a member of the Valley View Cemetery board. Marvin was a pilot and owned his own plane. He also enjoyed bowling, deer hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling. He and Mary enjoyed traveling with their camper and made many trips all around the United States. One of the most memorable was a camping trip to Alaska. Marvin also made many trips to the casino! In the winter months, Marvin worked for the Piechowski fishing crew. Most important to him was his family and the time he spent with them was treasured.
Marvin died August 13, 2014, at the Browns Valley Health Center, having reached the age of 95.
Cherishing his memory children are his children: Jerry (Claudia) Bullock of Mound, MN; Candy (Dave) Duffield of Browns Valley, MN; and Nancy (Tim) Goodhart of Isanti, MN; daughter-in-law Sharon Bullock of Browns Valley, MN; 10 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren.
Marvin Bullock was preceded in death by his parents; wife Mary; son Leonard; and great-grandson Max.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations be made to the Zion Lutheran Church, chair lift fund, in Browns Valley.
