Marlys I. Olson the daughter of Arthur and Ruth (McFarland) Arndt was born in Clinton, Minnesota, November 12, 1939. She attended Clinton School. She met and was united in marriage to Stan Herrmann and made their home in White Rock, South Dakota, for 3-4 years. They moved to Marshall, Minnesota for one year and Marlys moved to Grand Forks, North Dakota, where she attended Beauty College. She moved and started the Highland Highrise Beauty Shop which she owned and operated for twenty plus years. She also worked at St. Joseph's Hospital in the kitchen until her health made it hard to continue.
Marlys was known for her kindness and caring heart. She had a pet kitty named "Baby" she loved and cherished very much. She volunteered at Highland Highrise for many years, helping her neighbors and friends.
Marlys enjoyed crocheting, playing cards (skipbo), puzzle books, loved reading, and cooking and baking. Her most enjoyment were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Gene (Jolene) Herrmann of Ramsey, MN; grandchildren, Jason (Angela) Herrmann, Andover, MN, Jami Herrmann Brooklyn Park, MN; great-grandchildren, Kayla ad Jacob; brother, Arthur "Sonny" (Mary) Arndt; sister Loretta Shannon of East Bethel, MN; brother-in-law, Don Goslar of Gent, MN. Very special friend Donna (Tom) Aegerter of South St. Paul, MN; and all her many friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, DeEtta Wanous, Dorothy Pederson, and Shirley Goslar.
