Funeral services for Marlyn Dale Harms will be 11 A.M. Friday, November 26, 2010 at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Milbank with Rev Keith Bicknase officiating. Burial will be in the Corona Baptist Cemetery. Visitation from 9:30 - 11 A.M. at the Church.
Marlyn Dale Harms the son of Ibeling and Mary (Wiese) Harms was born January 6, 1932 in Garfield Township, Roberts County. He grew up in Geneseo Township on a farm and attended Geneseo Township Country School . Marlyn attained his High School Diploma as an Honorary War Veteran at Milbank High School.
He was inducted in the Air Force December of 1951 and honorably discharged February 1954. During this time he worked as an airplane mechanic and was stationed in Amarillo, Texas, and Chanute, Illinois. He was awarded the National Defense Metal. Marlyn then worked for Bowing Air Craft from 1954 - 1957 then farmed for 31 years and also sold hail insurance and seed. . Marlyn was united in marriage to Leanne Hirschman; to this union they were blessed with two daughters, Lisa and LaNae.
Marlyn enjoyed having coffee with his friends , fishing to relax, watching his family in sporting events, and mostly spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Marlyn was called home to his Lord November 22, 2010 at the Golden Living Center in Milbank. He will be missed by his family and many friends..
He is survived by his daughters, Lisa (David) Schell of Milbank, SD, LaNae (Mark) Solberg of Olathe, Kansas; six grandchildren, Amber Tvedt, Kara and Jamie Schell, Sophia, Sydnee and Bennett Solberg; brother, Elmer (Dorothy) Harms of Litchfield, MN; sisters, Arlene (Aaron) Knaus of Twin Brooks, S. D Sylvia Binde of Milbank, S.D; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Harvey and George.
