Mark “Boomer” Leuthardt, age 57, of Benson, MN, passed away on January 19, 2021, at Carris Health Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar, MN.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, January 29, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church in Ortonville. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Fr. Brian Oestreich will celebrate the Mass and a committal will be held at a later date.

While maintaining social distancing guidelines, we are now able to accommodate gatherings of up to 250 people. The use of face masks by attendees is required, and we will continue taking the necessary steps to keep our facility clean. For those who prefer or require continued precautions, webcasting and/or livestreaming is available in most situations.

Mark James Leuthardt was born on July 6, 1963, in Ortonville, MN, to Ralph and Audrey (Carlson) Leuthardt. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Catholic Church in Ortonville. Mark attended school in Clinton, MN, and graduated from Clinton High School with the Class of 1981. After high school, he attended Alexandria Technical College and earned his degree in Sales and Marketing.

Following his education, Mark went to work farming and especially enjoyed working with Dick Sandberg. He later traveled to Seattle, WA, to do some painting work. When he returned to Ortonville, Mark worked at the Big Stone Cheese Factory for many years. He traveled to Rapid City, SD, while working for Dakota Supply Group. Mark finally returned home and worked on the farm with his brother, Cal.

On March 1, 1996, Mark was united in marriage with Lori Rakowski in Fort Worth, TX. The couple made their home in Benson, MN. Family was important to Mark and he would do anything for the ones he loved.

Mark was a gifted woodworker and loved to build things. He loved listening to music, particularly rock and roll. Mark had his opinions and was not ever afraid to express it! He loved visiting and spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Lori Leuthardt of Benson, MN; his mother and step-father, Audrey and Jim Weinman of Ortonville, MN; brothers: Cary Leuthardt of Ortonville, MN; Calvin (Diane McKee) Leuthardt of Clinton, MN; Jeffrey (Kim) Leuthardt of Waconia, MN; and Michael (Amber) Leuthardt of Fergus Falls, MN; brothers-in-law: Joel Rakowski, Francis Rakowski, and Dave Rakowski; sister-in-law, Andrea (Dick) Crosby; along with many aunts and uncles; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mark was preceded in death by his father, Ralph; grandparents; niece, Chelsie Grundhauser; mother and step-father-in-law, Harriet and Henry Paulsen; brothers-in-law: John Rakowski, James Rakowski, and Ronald Rakowski; and several aunts and uncles.
