Funeral Services for Marjorie Wold will be held Saturday, June 11, 2011, at 10:30 AM at the Beardsley United Methodist Church in Beardsley, MN.
Visitation will be Friday, June 10, 2011, at the Larson Funeral Home in Graceville from 6-8:00 PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the services on Saturday at the church. Pastor Anna Williamson will be officiating and burial will be at the Clinton City Cemetery in Clinton.
Marjorie Loraine Stotesbery was born in Prior Township, Big Stone County, MN, to parents Leslie and Della (Gustafson) Stotesbery on May 14, 1922. She was baptized and confirmed in the Methodist faith. Marjorie was the oldest of 10 children and grew up on a farm southwest of Graceville. She attended District 31 Country School through the 8th grade and then attended and graduated from Clinton High School with the class of 1940.
On September 12, 1942, she was united in marriage to Alfred Wold in Wadena, MN. This union was blessed with two children: Suzanne and Nancy. After their marriage, they farmed and raised dairy cattle before moving to Beardsley in 1960, and after retirement, moved to Graceville in 1988.
Marjorie worked for a time at Krooks Grocery in Graceville, the Good Samaritan Home in Clinton, and the post office in Beardsley. She also worked as a nursing assistant at Holy Trinity Hospital in Graceville for 22 years, a time in her life she described as being the most fulfilling as she felt she made a difference in the lives of others. Marjorie was a member of the Beardsley Methodist Church, a member of 4-H as a young person, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and the Beardsley Community Club.
Marjorie enjoyed being a homemaker, wife, mother, and especially a grandmother and great grandmother. She grew lovely flower gardens and baked many pies, cakes and cookies, which she shared with neighbors and friends.
In 2003, Marjorie entered the Grace Home where she lived until she passed away on Monday, June 6, 2011. She had lived to reach the age of 89 years.
Marjorie is survived by her children: Suzanne (Jon) Martinson of Granite Falls, MN; Nancy (Kevin) O'Neill of Roseville, CA; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sister, Neva (Vern) Ramsey of Wabasha, MN; brothers: Howard (Kathy) Stotesbery of Graceville, MN; Moreland Stotesbery of Hastings, MN; Darrell (Marcia)Stotesbery of Visalia, CA; Jerry (Jeanine)Stotesbery of LaCrescent, MN; Gene (Marcy)Stotesbery of Ortonville, MN; a sister-in-law, Blanche Wold Hanshew of Maine; and many nieces and nephews.
Marjorie is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Alfred Wold, brothers; Marvin, Ronald, and Roger, sisters-in-law, Gertrude and Lois Stotesbery, and one nephew, Kevin Stotesbery.
