Marilyn Peltier, age 83, passed away on Saturday, January 28, 2023, in Browns Valley, MN.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Hope Lutheran Church in Jordan, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Pastor Ted Vanderpan will officiate the service and inurnment will be at Spirit Hill Cemetery in Jordan, MN, at a later date.
Marilyn Vinnette (Anderson) Peltier was born on February 20, 1939, in Minneapolis, MN, to Donald and Olga (Larson) Anderson. She attended high school through tenth grade and went on to complete one year of vocational school.
On April 6, 1957, Marilyn was united in marriage with William A. Peltier in Robbinsdale, MN. Together, they were blessed with five children.
Along with raising her children, Marilyn worked as a daycare provider for 25 years. She also worked as a bakery packager at the Pillsbury Bakery, did housekeeping for various offices, and owned and operated Peltier Café in Verndale, MN, with her husband, Bill, for two to three years.
Marilyn volunteered at thrift stores. She also volunteered as a Girl Scout Leader and even convinced Bill to be an assistant leader. Family and friends were everything to Marilyn and she loved spending time with them whenever she got the chance. She was known for her baking and “pink fluff” which she made for many special occasions. Marilyn was an avid seamstress and she loved quilting and sewing of all kinds.
Marilyn is survived by her children: Vickie Kern of Verndale, MN; James Peltier of Browns Valley, MN; Cindy (Mike) Olson of Belle Plaine, MN; and Timothy Peltier (Tanya Brick) of Browns Valley, MN; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; along with many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are her parents; husband, Bill in 1999; daughter, Sue Peltier; son-in-law, Kem Kern; sister, Donna Stine; and brothers: Darrell Anderson, and Melvin Anderson.
